Sugovushan

Sugovushan is a mountain settlement in Tartar District at roughly 434 meters elevation, featuring new parks and infrastructure spread across about 7.5 hectares. The area includes playgrounds, sports equipment, a tourism information center, parking, and a cafe for visitors.

The settlement came under control of Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry in October 2020, marking a significant shift in regional administration. This transition led to the development of new visitor facilities and infrastructure.

The settlement carries multiple names across different languages, including Madagiz and Mataghis, reflecting the diverse linguistic heritage of the Caucasus region. This naming diversity tells the story of how different communities have connected with this mountain location over time.

The settlement is straightforward to explore, with ample parking and clear pathways connecting different areas. The tourism information center helps visitors navigate the various facilities and get their bearings across the site.

Below the settlement sits a reservoir with a roughly 630-meter dam that stores water for surrounding farm areas. This water system is visible from the village and shows how infrastructure supports the local farming landscape.
