Ramna Park, Public park in Ramna district, Dhaka, Bangladesh
The 68.5-acre park contains a central lake spanning 8.76 acres and features numerous walking paths lined with mature trees and landscaped gardens.
Established in 1610 during the Mughal period, the park underwent major redevelopment from 1908 to 1928 under British rule with guidance from Kew Gardens expert R.L. Proudlock.
The park serves as the central location for the Bengali New Year celebrations, with traditional performances taking place under the ancient banyan tree each spring.
The park opens daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM with free admission and provides exercise areas, children's playgrounds, and designated spaces for morning walks.
The grounds house 211 plant species, including 87 ornamental varieties, 36 fruit trees, 33 medicinal plants, and rare specimens like African tulip trees and Javanese cassia.
