Mausoleum of Kazi Nazrul Islam, Memorial building near University of Dhaka Central Mosque, Bangladesh
The mausoleum features a tomb structure constructed beside the central mosque of Dhaka University, marking the final resting place of Bangladesh's national poet.
Following Bangladesh's independence in 1971, Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman arranged for Kazi Nazrul Islam's return from Kolkata to Dhaka in May 1972.
The memorial complex includes the graves of several influential figures in Bengali arts, including painter Zainul Abedin and artist Quamrul Hassan.
Construction of the mausoleum began in May 1999 under architect Muzharul Islam's design and opened to visitors in August 2009.
Soil from the grave of Pramila Kazi, the poet's wife, was brought from West Bengal and placed on his tomb in February 2011.
