House of European History, Museum and exhibition center in European Quarter, Belgium
The House of European History is a renovated building in Parc Leopold with exhibitions about European development spread across multiple floors. The spaces display a large collection of objects and documents from museums throughout the continent.
The building was constructed in the 1930s as a dental clinic for disadvantaged children and underwent renovation in the early 2000s. The museum opened in 2017 as an institution of the European Union and has presented European history since then.
The permanent collection tells the story of how European societies developed over time through objects and documents gathered from museums across the continent. You can see how daily life, art, and politics changed differently in various regions.
Visitors receive tablets with content available in multiple languages for self-guided tours, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Group visits with more than ten people can be arranged with a guide.
The museum offers materials in all official languages of the European Union, making it accessible to citizens from every member state. This multilingual approach reflects the core idea of European integration.
