Parlamentarium, Visitor center at Espace Léopold complex, Brussels, Belgium.
Parlamentarium is a visitor center in the Espace Léopold complex in Brussels that presents the European Parliament's operations through multimedia exhibits, personal guides, and interactive displays across multiple floors in a modern building. The space combines digital technology with hands-on elements to make the work and decision-making processes of the European institution experiential.
The center opened its doors on October 14, 2011, under European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, marking a new era of public engagement with EU institutions. Its founding was part of a broader initiative to improve transparency and citizen participation in the European Union.
The exhibition space offers materials and guided experiences in all 24 official languages of the European Union, reflecting the diversity of member states. Visitors can explore perspectives from different European communities and understand how various cultures are represented within the EU framework.
Visitors receive a personal multimedia guide for self-directed tours lasting around 90 minutes, with the facility open on weekdays from 9 to 18 and on weekends from 10 to 18. It helps to arrive early in the day, especially when groups are expected, to have the best conditions for exploring the exhibition.
The facility houses a 360-degree cinema where visitors are completely surrounded by immersive projection from all perspectives. An interactive floor map displays over 100 different stories from locations across European member states, allowing visitors to discover personal connections.
