St Aubin's Cathedral

St Aubin's Cathedral is a baroque structure made of brick located in Namur. The interior features a double-cross layout with paired columns on two levels and elaborate plaster decorations crafted by the Moretti brothers throughout the space.

The building began as a collegiate church in the 11th century. It was completely rebuilt in the mid-18th century following severe flood damage, taking on the baroque style that remains today.

The cathedral is named after Saint Aubin, a patron connected to the local diocese. Inside, religious artworks and ornate decorations fill the spaces where people have gathered for centuries to worship and celebrate important moments.

A marble plaque near the high altar contains the heart of Don Juan of Austria, separated from the rest of his remains. This unusual burial arrangement reflects the complex history and royal connections of this religious space.
