Rivierenhof

Rivierenhof is a provincial domain and protected monument in Deurne that spreads over many hectares, connecting several specialized garden areas, ponds, and pathways throughout the grounds. The site also includes a children's farm, a traffic garden, and various sports facilities for everyday activities.

The estate originated as a summer residence in the 16th century and came under Jesuit care from 1618 to 1773. After that period, it passed into private hands and eventually transformed into the public recreation area it is today.

The grounds are divided into distinct garden areas, including a rose garden and a collection of trees based on Celtic horoscope traditions. These different zones show how people have shaped green spaces to showcase various plants and create different recreational experiences.

The grounds are easy to navigate on foot, with multiple pathways connecting the different garden areas and recreational zones. Plan for several hours to explore the full site, as the grounds are quite large and deserve unhurried exploration.

A river flows through the grounds and feeds natural ponds, including a large fishing pond with significant depth. These water features shape the landscape and provide habitat for various waterfowl and fish species.
