Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Hemelvaartkerk

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Hemelvaartkerk is a Baroque church in Ninove with a brick and sandstone exterior topped by a square tower featuring a six-sided lantern. The building blends monastery and pilgrimage church designs with distinct sections in the choir, transept, and nave.

Construction started in 1635 for the Premonstratensian community and faced delays before completion in 1723, with consecration in 1727. The project took nearly a century to reach its final form.

The interior displays white plaster decorations and religious artworks showing the lives of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian on the walls. These pieces shape how the space feels and tell stories from Christian tradition.

The church is open to visitors throughout the day, and you can see the restored Forceville organ from 1728 inside. Guided tours are available if you want to learn more about the building.
