The Beguinage of Herentals features a Gothic-style church of Saint Catherine situated along a single cobblestone street with residential houses and garden areas.
Established in 1266 near the old hospital, the beguinage was relocated to Burchtstraat in 1590 following its demolition during the Eighty Years' War.
The beguinage provided a dedicated space for unmarried women to live independently in a religious community while maintaining their personal autonomy.
The Saint Catherine Church opens to visitors from June through September on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 14:00 and 17:00.
The Foundation House from 1657 displays a carved stone relief depicting the Holy Family on its facade.
