Baggaertshof, Historical housing complex in Kortrijk, Belgium
The Baggaertshof consists of twelve small houses arranged in a rectangular pattern around a central courtyard filled with medicinal plants and herbs.
The Baggaert sisters established this residential complex in 1638 to provide accommodation for widows and unmarried women facing financial difficulties.
The compound features a chapel and traditional Belgian architecture, reflecting the social support structures of seventeenth-century Flanders.
Visitors can explore the botanical garden between 2 PM and 6 PM throughout the year, except on Mondays, Fridays, and public holidays.
The garden contains over 200 different species of medicinal and aromatic plants, maintaining a centuries-old tradition of herbal cultivation.
