Kasteel van Lovendegem

Kasteel van Lovendegem is a stately home in Lievegem featuring a stone bridge, gatehouse with twin towers, and a water-filled moat defining its perimeter. The surrounding grounds contain formal gardens and landscaped areas that extend across the property.

The fortress originated in the 13th century and underwent continuous modification through successive centuries. Major rebuilding took place between 1885 and 1888 when architect Pieter Van Kerkhove redesigned key sections.

This is a private residence with limited public access, available mainly during special events or by appointment only. The location at Kasteeldreef 124-130 is best reached by car or on foot from nearby roads.

A memorial chapel on the grounds marks where Baron Dons de Lovendeghem died in 1918 during the German retreat in World War I. This quiet monument preserves a dramatic moment from the property's past.
