The Aula Pieter De Somer stands between the Paus College, Maria Theresia College, Maurits Sabbe Library, and the city park on Charles Deberiot Street.
The auditorium, designed by architect Paul Van Aerschot, opened its doors on September 26, 1989, and bears the name of the first rector of KU Leuven.
A sculpture of Pieter De Somer by Vic Gentils stands at the entrance, while street artist Case Maclaim created a mural in 2022 commemorating Sanda Dia.
With 814 seats, this central Leuven auditorium hosts academic lectures, cultural performances, debates, and major university ceremonies throughout the academic year.
The building features modern audio-visual technology and stands as the largest lecture hall in central Leuven, serving both educational and community purposes.
