Okolchitsa

Okolchitsa is a mountain summit in the western Balkan Mountains reaching 1048 meters (3438 feet) and topped by a concrete monument and stone chapel. Marked hiking trails connect these structures at the peak, making them accessible to visitors who ascend the mountain.

The summit was the site of a final battle in 1876 between a Bulgarian revolutionary force and Ottoman soldiers, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's struggle for independence. The monument on the peak was later built to commemorate this historical event.
