Yagodinska

Yagodinska is a limestone cave in the Rhodope Mountains with multiple levels and passages extending underground. An active underground river flows through the system, having shaped the current formations over millennia.

People have used the cave since ancient times, as shown by pottery and artifacts archaeologists discovered inside. The occupation reveals that the region held importance in antiquity.

The name comes from the nearby village of Yagodina. Visitors can see the underground river flowing through the chambers, actively shaping the cave even today.

The cave stays cool year-round, and well-lit paths guide visitors safely through the main chambers. Sturdy footwear is advisable since the ground is uneven and sometimes wet.

The cave is home to many different bat species, which visitors sometimes see flying overhead. These animals play an important role in controlling insect populations in the region.
