Windsor's Community Museum

This house-museum contains more than 15,000 artifacts and documents that chronicle the story of Windsor and the Essex County region. The collection spans everyday objects, photographs, and records that trace the area's development over time.

The institution was founded in 1958 to document local history and culture. The building itself dates to 1812 and later earned recognition as a National Historic Site for its architectural significance.

The museum honors the Indigenous peoples who inhabited this area long before European settlers arrived, including the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, and Huron nations. Their legacy shapes how visitors understand this region today.

Visitors can access collections from the museum and the Windsor Sculpture Park through an online digital database. This allows you to explore objects before or after a visit.
