Detroit International Riverfrontge, Waterfront park in Detroit, United States.
Detroit International Riverfront is a waterfront park along the Detroit River in Michigan, stretching 3.5 miles (5.6 km) and linking several green spaces through a continuous pathway. The park includes wide walking paths, lawns, seating areas overlooking the water, playgrounds and small pavilions spread along the river's edge.
The transformation of the riverfront began in the early 2000s with several construction projects that converted derelict industrial waterfront into public parks. In 2012, Mt Elliott Park was renovated, completing a key section of the overall plan.
The name reflects the riverside location, where people move between green spaces and waterfront promenades. On summer weekends, cyclists and walkers fill the wide paths while anglers cast their lines along the shore and families picnic on the lawns.
The park opens daily from 6 AM to 10 PM, and free parking is available at several access points along the route. All pathways are wheelchair accessible and run over flat terrain, making navigation easy for all visitors.
From the shore, both the towers of Detroit and the Canadian waterfront of Windsor are visible, allowing visitors to view two countries at once. William G Milliken State Park within the complex was the first urban state park in Michigan.
