First National Building, Neoclassical skyscraper in Detroit Financial District, United States.
The First National Building spans 830,000 square feet across 26 floors, featuring a limestone exterior with three-story Corinthian columns on the second floor.
Completed in 1922 as Detroit's tallest structure, the First National Building replaced the Hotel Pontchartrain and contained the city's fastest elevators at that time.
The building's banking lobby, designed by Albert Kahn, incorporated 69 teller windows, making it one of the five largest banking halls in the United States.
The structure contains office spaces, restaurants, retail operations, and connects to a parking garage through the first-floor layout for visitor convenience.
The building's Z-shaped design maximizes natural light and ventilation throughout the office spaces, distinguishing it from other structures in downtown Detroit.
