Majestic Building, Beaux-Arts office building in Downtown Detroit, United States
The Majestic Building stood 223 feet tall with 14 floors, featuring terra cotta facades and Italian marble throughout its corridors and lobby.
Constructed in 1896 as Detroit's second skyscraper, the building remained the city's tallest structure until 1909 when the Ford Building surpassed it.
The building housed the Mabley and Company department store, representing the commercial growth of Detroit during the late nineteenth century.
The United States Weather Bureau operated from the building's rooftop observation deck, offering public access and views extending 12 miles in each direction.
In 1916, Harry H. Gardiner, known as the Human Fly, scaled the exterior walls of the building while crowds gathered on Woodward Avenue.
