Originally constructed in 1929 as an office building, the Griswold Building earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
The structure represents architect Albert Kahn's architectural transition between Art Deco and Art Moderne styles in early twentieth-century Detroit.
Located at 1214 Griswold Street, the building offers market-rate apartments with 14,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor.
The limestone facade divides into nine bays at the lower three stories, while the upper nine floors feature brick construction with recessed center sections.
