Bankers Trust Company Building, Detroit

Bankers Trust Company Building, Detroit, Romanesque Revival bank building in Financial District, Detroit, US.

The Bankers Trust Company Building is a two-story commercial structure styled in Romanesque Revival with tall arched windows and terracotta walls. Green marble columns decorated with lion heads support the facade and frame the main openings.

The structure was built in 1925 as the headquarters of a financial firm and served that purpose until 1948. After the original occupant moved away, the building found new uses with different tenants over the following decades.

The structure shows how Detroit transformed its downtown streets with solid commercial buildings in the early 1900s. The green marble columns and lion decorations that line the facade still convey a sense of importance and stability to those who pass by today.

The building sits on West Congress Street in the Financial District and is easy to access. Since it now houses restaurants and entertainment spaces, visitors can enter through multiple doors and explore the interior freely.

A third floor was added in the 1960s in International Style, which looks quite different from the original design below. This expansion created a visible contrast between two architectural periods on the same building.
