Ingersoll, Administrative town in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada

Ingersoll is a town in Oxford County in southwestern Ontario that spreads along the Thames River between Woodstock and London. The community includes residential neighborhoods and industrial areas situated at approximately 280 meters in elevation.

Thomas Ingersoll founded the settlement in the mid-1800s, which was established as a village in 1852 and later became a town in 1861. This growth reflected the area's rising importance as a regional center.

The Cheese and Agricultural Museum tells the story of dairy farming that shaped this community, showing how milk production became central to local life and work. Walking through the exhibits, you see how cheese-making traditions connected residents to a shared trade and identity.

Municipal services, library facilities, and community program registrations are available at the Town Centre on Oxford Street. Planning your visit during weekday or Saturday hours ensures you can access these resources without disruption.

In 1866, local cheese makers produced a colossal cheese wheel that traveled to exhibitions in New York and England. This remarkable creation brought international attention and established the town's reputation as a major dairy center.
