Bromont, Resort town in Brome-Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada
Bromont sits at the base of Mont Brome and offers more than 70 kilometers of trails for walking and cycling, plus North America's largest night-lit ski area with multiple runs. The town also has four golf courses, a national cycling center, and a local airport.
The settlement started in 1792 as West Shefford, serving as a coach station between Montreal and Sherbrooke. Roland Désourdy transformed it into Bromont in 1964, establishing it as a modern recreational destination.
The Vieux-Village district is the heart of the community, filled with art galleries, casual dining spots, and antique shops where local artists display their work. Major festivals throughout the year bring people together and celebrate creative expression.
The town is accessible with a local airport and offers various lodging options near ski slopes and mountain biking trails. Visitors should plan for seasonal activities, with warm months ideal for cycling and hiking, while winter months are best for skiing.
The cycling track was originally built using wooden materials from Atlanta's 1996 Olympics before being replaced by a new sports center in 2022. This connection to a major international sporting event shows the town's long history of hosting high-level competition.
