Saint-Germain Cathedral, Gothic Revival cathedral in downtown Rimouski, Canada.

Saint-Germain Cathedral is a Gothic Revival church in downtown Rimouski built with grey stone and supporting buttresses. The interior features a high vaulted ceiling and many pointed arch windows filled with stained glass.

The building was designed and constructed between 1854 and 1859 by a prominent architect. It soon became the principal church of the Roman Catholic diocese serving the region.

Inside, the cathedral houses a gilded altarpiece created by a renowned local artisan in 1833 and a grand pipe organ added later. These works remain central to religious services and demonstrate the skilled craftsmanship of past generations.

The building is located downtown and easy to reach on foot with clear landmarks for visitors. The interior can be visited and provides a quiet space to explore the design and its artistic elements.

During a major fire in 1950 that destroyed many buildings across the city, the cathedral remained untouched and survived the disaster. This rare occurrence made the building a symbol of resilience for the community.
