Quebec City–Windsor Corridor, Geographic corridor between Quebec City and Windsor, Canada
The corridor extends over more than one thousand kilometers between two provinces and connects a series of larger cities along its path. The route follows in part the Saint Lawrence River and crosses several large rivers and lakes.
The eastern areas were settled during colonial times by French colonists who established themselves along the river. The western parts developed later under British rule with immigration from Europe and America.
This region includes several large university towns and the seat of Canadian government in the capital. Visitors experience here the shift between English-speaking and French-speaking communities within a short distance.
Travelers can move between major cities by train, with several rail companies serving main routes. The region is well connected by road, with large motorways linking the main centers.
More than half of the Canadian population lives in this relatively narrow zone along the border with the United States. The concentration of people here contrasts with the wide thinly populated areas in the north of the country.
