Riel House, National historic site in St. Vital, Winnipeg, Canada.
The wooden house, built in 1880 using Red River Frame construction, features period furnishings and original architectural elements from the nineteenth century.
The residence belonged to Joseph Riel and held the body of his brother Louis Riel for two days in December 1885 after his execution.
The museum exhibits display the traditions, customs, and daily experiences of Métis families who lived in the Red River Settlement during the 1880s.
Parks Canada manages this heritage site, which includes guided tours and educational programs about Métis history from June through August each year.
The restoration maintains the exact appearance of spring 1886, presenting authentic furniture, objects, and materials used by Métis families of that period.
