Wendake, Indigenous reserve in Quebec, Canada

Wendake is a settlement of the Huron-Wendat people located near Quebec City, where traditional buildings stand alongside modern facilities. The area includes several places where visitors can learn about the history and current culture of this community.

The settlement was established in the 1800s and is now the only recognized Huron-Wendat community in Canada. The people originally came from the Ontario region and built a new home here.

The community here is shaped by the living presence of the Huron-Wendat people, who practice their language and traditions as part of daily life. You notice signs of this heritage throughout the area, from craftwork displayed in studios to knowledge passed down to younger generations.

The area is easily accessible and includes a museum and a hotel with dining options featuring local ingredients. Plan to spend several hours exploring the different locations and learning about the community.

A forest path with light and sound installations tells the story of the Huron-Wendat people in a modern way. This nighttime experience blends nature with contemporary technology in an uncommon manner.
