Tunney's Pasture, Federal government campus and neighborhood in Ottawa, Canada

Tunney's Pasture is a 49-hectare federal government campus in Ottawa containing 17 buildings bordered by Scott Street, Parkdale Avenue, the Ottawa River, and the Champlain Park neighborhood. The complex brings together multiple federal departments and agencies in a single coordinated location.

The federal government acquired this former grazing land in 1947 and transformed it into a modern government campus. This conversion from rural farmland to an administrative center shaped the development of western Ottawa.

The area grew from farmland into a workplace where multiple federal agencies operate and employ thousands of people. You can see how the buildings structure daily routines and bring together different government departments in one location.

The area is served by Tunney's Pasture station, which connects to both the Transitway bus system and marks the western terminus of the O-Train Confederation Line. Public transit provides convenient access to the campus from other parts of the city.

The site has a modernized district energy system that provides centralized heating and cooling for the entire federal complex. This energy-efficient infrastructure quietly powers the campus operations without being particularly visible to visitors.
