Le Triangle, Residential district in Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Canada.
Le Triangle is a residential neighborhood in Montreal, bounded by Avenue Mountain Sights, Rue de la Savane, and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. It combines housing blocks, parks, walking paths, and shops on a former industrial site.
Before its transformation, the land was occupied by car dealerships and auto-related businesses. An urban design competition in 2011 launched the process of turning it into a residential neighborhood.
The name "Le Triangle" comes from the triangular shape of the land formed by its three borders. The layout of paths and open spaces inside encourages people to move between buildings, green areas, and small shops on foot.
Namur metro station on the Orange line sits right next to the neighborhood, making it easy to reach by public transit. Once inside, the streets and paths are laid out so that getting around on foot between homes, shops, and parks is straightforward.
At least 30 percent of the housing units in the neighborhood are set aside for social and affordable housing, which is uncommon for a newly built area in Montreal. This means people with very different incomes live side by side in the same buildings.
