Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park

Kawartha Highlands extends across 375 square kilometers of forests, lakes, and wetlands, forming the second largest protected area in southern Ontario.

The park started as an 18.6 square kilometer protected zone in 1989 and expanded to its current size through a significant expansion in 2003.

The area maintains strong connections to outdoor recreation traditions, with generations of visitors practicing canoeing, fishing, and camping throughout its waterways.

Visitors need to secure ministry permits for both camping and parking, while campsites come equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and basic facilities.

The park contains numerous lakes interconnected by portage routes, creating an extensive water network that supports both recreational activities and natural ecosystems.
