Oppenheimer Park, Public park in Downtown Eastside Vancouver, Canada.
Oppenheimer Park contains a softball field, basketball court, playground, and community center spread across its rectangular urban grounds.
Named after Vancouver's second mayor David Oppenheimer, the park opened in 1902 as Powell Street Grounds within the historic Japanese district.
The park hosted the Asahi baseball team matches before World War II and became a landmark for Japanese Canadian sports heritage.
The community center provides meeting spaces, computer access, and restroom facilities, operating from 9:15 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
In 2014, First Nations protesters established a tent city, citing Vancouver's parkland as unceded territory based on a 2009 Supreme Court decision.
