Tuckamore Festival, Chamber music festival in St. John's, Canada
Tuckamore Festival is a two-week chamber music event held each August at Memorial University of Newfoundland's School of Music. International performers present contemporary and classical works through rotating programs in various performance spaces on campus.
The festival was founded in 2001 by violinist Nancy Dahn and pianist Timothy Steeves to establish chamber music in Atlantic Canada. Since its creation, it has grown into a recognized event drawing musicians from around the world.
The festival brings together established and emerging musicians in a setting where local and international artists share the stage and learn from each other. Its name references the rugged landscape of Newfoundland, reflecting a deep connection to the region.
The festival offers multiple daily concerts at different campus locations, allowing visitors to choose performances based on interest and availability. Checking the program beforehand helps visitors plan which performances to attend.
The festival has supported over 350 young musicians over the years, many of whom went on to win national music awards. These musicians have often credited the event as a turning point in their professional careers.
