Jesus the Homeless, Bronze sculpture at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Davidson, United States
The life-size bronze figure depicts a person wrapped in a blanket on a bench, with only the feet showing nail marks identifying it as Jesus.
Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz created the first installation at Regis College in Toronto during 2013, receiving recognition from Pope Francis that same year.
The sculpture references Matthew's Gospel passage about caring for others, presenting Jesus as a representation of people experiencing homelessness in modern society.
St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Davidson purchased this installation for $22,000 as a memorial to parishioner Kate McIntyre in North Carolina.
Multiple emergency calls have been made by people mistaking the bronze figure for an actual person requiring assistance during cold weather.
