The Auraria 9th Street Historic District spans 3.5 acres and contains 33 buildings featuring Late Victorian architectural elements in central Denver.
The district emerged during the Colorado Gold Rush in the mid-19th century when miners, traders, and settlers established a new settlement near the South Platte River.
Each building within the district represents the architectural preferences of early Denver residents, with structures dating from 1873 to 1905.
The former street has been transformed into a greenway that connects different sections of the Auraria Campus, providing pedestrian access throughout the district.
The National Register of Historic Places recognized this district in 1973, preserving a collection of Victorian homes from Denver's early development period.
