Foley Mountain Conservation Area, Conservation area in Westport, Ontario, Canada
Foley Mountain Conservation Area is a 325-hectare protected space with forests, ponds, and open fields spread across the Rideau Valley. The terrain rises along a granite ridge that shapes the natural landscape and creates diverse habitats.
The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority established this area to protect natural habitats in the region. The initiative came from a desire to preserve the local ecosystems for future generations.
The interpretive center displays nature exhibits from July to August, educating visitors about the local environment and regional wildlife.
Five marked trails guide visitors through different sections of the area and suit various skill levels. Group camping is available, and the paths remain accessible throughout the year.
The highest point in the Rideau Valley holds multiple observation posts with views of Upper Rideau Lake and Westport below. From these vantage points, the surrounding landscape stretches across the horizon in multiple directions.
