Camp X, Military drama film in Los Angeles, United States.
Camp X is a former training camp for special agents in Ontario, Canada, located roughly 19 miles (30 kilometers) east of Toronto along the Lake Ontario shore. The site consists of open grassy areas, patches of woodland, and the foundation remains of several buildings that spread across a quiet stretch of shoreline.
The facility opened in 1941 as a training site for British and American intelligence officers and remained active in different roles until 1969. After the Second World War the Canadian government used the grounds for communications research before the buildings were demolished in the 1970s.
The name refers to the covert nature of the training site, linked to espionage and sabotage operations during the Second World War. Today visitors can see foundations and historical markers along the Lake Ontario shore that recall the clandestine activities of special agents.
The site sits in a residential area with limited access, so checking accessibility before visiting is advisable. The lakeside location brings wind and changing weather, so suitable clothing for outdoor conditions is recommended.
The grounds served as a prototype for similar facilities and influenced the design of later training sites across North America. The proximity to the American border allowed discreet cooperation between allied personnel without cross-border travel during the war years.
