Wesley Clover Parks, Recreation park in Ottawa, Canada

Wesley Clover Parks is a year-round outdoor recreation facility on the western edge of Ottawa, with grounds that cover camping areas, ski trails, mountain biking paths, equestrian facilities, and soccer fields. The site also runs instructional programs tied to several of its activities, making it a place where people can both practice and learn.

The Nepean National Equestrian Park began construction in 1974 on land leased from the National Capital Commission, with stables designed by Walter Coates built in 1976 and an indoor arena added in 1981. The City of Ottawa ended its lease in 2012, closing the riding school. In 2014 the Wesley Clover Foundation took over the equestrian park and the adjacent Ottawa Municipal Campground, creating Wesley Clover Parks.

The riding school on the grounds draws people from across the Ottawa region who are interested in horsemanship, and horses can often be seen on the paddocks during a visit. The equestrian side of the park gives it a feel that sets it apart from a typical city park.

The park is west of downtown Ottawa and is easiest to reach by car, as public transit options in that area are limited. Since activities change with the seasons, it helps to check what is currently available before heading out.

The site keeps 6 honey bee hives holding over 300,000 bees, brought in with GeesBees Honey Company to support the bee population. It also harvests more than 100 acres of hay to feed the 55 horses and one donkey living at the Parks.
