Humber Cinemas was a movie theater in Bloor West Village with two screening rooms, the upper level offering 300 seats and the lower featuring a 50-foot-wide projection screen. Modern projection equipment and concessions with snacks and beverages served moviegoers throughout its operation.
The cinema opened in 1949 as one of Toronto's original Odeon theaters and operated continuously until 2003. Following a reopening with intermittent operation, the building closed permanently in 2019.
The venue showed both mainstream and independent films, shaping Toronto's cinema offerings through regular special screenings and community gatherings.
The cinema was located on Bloor Street West and equipped with modern projection technology that kept films current. Access to both upper and lower levels with different room sizes offered flexibility for various film formats.
The building was designed by architect Jay I. English in Streamline Moderne style, displaying a distinctive Art Deco aesthetic. In 1976 the original single auditorium seating 1,200 was converted into a dual-screen venue.
