High Park Zoo, Free zoo in High Park, Toronto, Canada.
High Park Zoo contains twelve animal species in six enclosures along Deer Pen Road, including bison, llamas, peacocks, and Highland cattle.
The zoo originated in 1893 when the City of Toronto received the 165-acre land donation from John and Jemima Howard, starting with deer enclosures.
The Friends of High Park Zoo organization maintains the connection between the community and animals through educational programs and seasonal celebrations.
The zoo welcomes visitors every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in winter and until 7:00 PM during spring, summer, and fall seasons.
High Park Zoo houses capybaras, which are the largest rodents in the world, maintaining them in specialized habitats with access to water features.
