Dent du Salantin, Mountain peak in Valais, Switzerland.
Dent du Salantin is a mountain peak in the Chablais Alps located between Evionnaz and Vernayaz in the Valais region. The summit rises prominently above the surrounding alpine landscape and forms part of the ridge system that separates the Rhone Valley from the higher peaks beyond.
The mountain became established as a climbing destination during the 19th century. Around the same period, the nearby Salanfe area developed as alpine pastureland, shaping the agricultural character of this part of Valais.
The mountain represents a significant location for Swiss mountaineering traditions and attracts numerous climbers seeking technical alpine experiences throughout the year.
The main approach follows trails starting from Salvan les Marécottes in the lower valleys. Mountaineering experience and stable weather are important, as conditions at elevation change quickly and the terrain demands care.
From the top, the views extend far across the valleys below and reveal distant major peaks of the Alps on the horizon. This commanding perspective across the entire region is why many climbers return to this particular summit multiple times.
