Haute Cime, Mountain summit in Chablais Alps, Switzerland
Haute Cime is a summit in the Chablais Alps reaching about 3,250 meters and stands as the highest point of the Dents du Midi range. The mountain is composed of sedimentary rock with steep rocky slopes and limestone formations.
The mountain saw its first documented ascent in 1784, marking the beginning of mountaineering in this section of the Swiss Alps. Since then it has become an established route for alpine climbers in the region.
The name refers to High Peak and High Teeth, reflecting the French-speaking tradition of the Valais region. The area has long drawn people seeking high mountain views and the challenge of alpine routes.
The route typically begins in Champéry, following marked trails through Pas d'Encel and Susanfe Pass. The complete ascent requires good fitness and takes around 8 hours for the round trip.
In clear weather the summit offers views of roughly 24 peaks above 4,000 meters across the Alps, including Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. This exceptional visibility makes it a favored spot for photography and observing distant alpine summits.
