Meyrin

With an elevation ranging from 435 to 443 meters, Meyrin stretches across 996 hectares on the right bank of the Rhone River in Geneva Canton.

The settlement, first documented as Mairin in 1153, transformed from an agricultural village into a modern municipality following the establishment of CERN in the 1950s.

The population of 25,255 inhabitants includes 41.5 percent foreign nationals, with French speakers representing 73.3 percent of the residents, followed by German and Italian groups.

The municipality maintains six primary schools, multiple transportation connections through two railway stations, and direct access to Geneva Cointrin International Airport.

Meyrin contains substantial scientific facilities, including sections of CERN, while maintaining 35.6 percent of its territory as agricultural land.
