Wädenswil

Wädenswil sits on the shore of Lake Zurich, nestled below the Uetliberg mountain with terrain that varies between lower lakeside areas and higher ground inland. The landscape combines waterfront neighborhoods with hillside sections and forested slopes that frame the entire settlement.

The settlement was known as Vadena during Roman times and later became a significant trading hub in the Middle Ages. These early trade routes established the foundation for the area's continued importance as a crossroads.

The municipality underwent a significant expansion in 2019 when two neighboring communities were incorporated into its boundaries. This merger transformed it into a much larger administrative area in the region.
