Horgen District

Horgen District is an administrative region on Lake Zürich spanning hillsides and valleys that contain several medium and smaller municipalities. The landscape shifts between lakeside settlements with water views and rural areas with forests and meadows.

The district developed through several mergers, most recently when Hirzel joined Horgen in 2018 and later when Hütten and Schönenberg joined Wädenswil. These unions continue to shape how the municipalities work together today.

The municipalities here preserve Swiss traditions through local festivals and customs that happen throughout the year. These events reflect how residents live and what matters to them, offering visitors a genuine look at everyday community life.

The district connects well to Zürich, and each municipality offers access to the lake and mountain hiking paths. Visitors should use buses or trains, as the network is well-connected and makes navigation easier.

The district successfully blends urban and rural living spaces, with municipalities practicing wine and fruit growing alongside contemporary homes. This mix of traditional farming and modern life makes the region stand out.
