Le Gibloux

Le Gibloux is a 1205 meter peak in the Swiss Prealps located within the Fribourg region. The mountain is crossed by multiple hiking trails that connect various viewpoints and rest areas overlooking the surrounding landscape.

The mountain formed as part of the Swiss Prealps geological formation and served generations of regional residents as a crucial landscape marker. Its prominence as a distinctive feature shaped the development of local settlement patterns and routes through the centuries.

Local residents gather annually at the mountain's buvette for traditional Swiss winter activities, reinforcing community connections through seasonal celebrations.

The mountain provides access to a public observation platform at the Gibloux Radio Tower with views across Lake Gruyère and surrounding Alpine peaks. The hiking trails are generally most accessible during warmer months and accommodate different fitness levels.

The mountain ranks as the highest point in District de la Glâne and third in Sarine District, with a prominence of 374 meters from its nearest col.
