Piz Languard, Mountain summit in Grisons, Switzerland.
Piz Languard is a mountain summit in the Livigno Alps with an elevation of 3,262 meters. The peak sits opposite the Bernina mountain group and offers expansive views across the alpine landscape from its top.
The peak became a focus for climbers in the early 20th century when multiple routes were established across its steep slopes. These routes made the summit an appealing destination for experienced alpinists from the surrounding region.
The trail system uses the traditional red and white markers of the Swiss Alpine Club, helping hikers navigate safely through the mountain terrain. You will encounter climbers from around the world who have chosen this route for their alpine experience.
A chairlift from Pontresina takes visitors up to 2,300 meters, cutting down the remaining climb to the summit to about 950 meters. The best time to climb is during the summer months when the trails are clearer and easier to navigate.
From the summit, Gran Paradiso, one of the most famous peaks in the Italian Alps, is visible from a distance of about 234 kilometers away. This exceptional viewpoint is one of the few places in the Engadin region where such a distant alpine giant can be seen on clear days.
