Jungfrau Park, Theme park in Interlaken, Switzerland
Jungfrau Park is a theme park in Interlaken, Switzerland, featuring seven pavilions that showcase archaeological sites from around the world. The recreated sites include the Nazca Lines, Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid of Giza, and Maya calendar structures, connected through scientific and technological exhibits.
The park opened in 2003 as Mystery Park and closed in 2006 due to financial difficulties. Three years later, it reopened as Jungfrau Park and has welcomed visitors ever since.
Each pavilion presents models and displays based on ancient sites like the Nazca Lines or Stonehenge, exploring theories about their construction. Visitors encounter a mix of archaeology and popular interpretations that invite questions about early civilizations.
The park is located near Interlaken in the Bernese region and opens during the summer season. A 41-meter (135-foot) high sphere offers visitors a panoramic view over the grounds and surrounding area.
Author Erich von Däniken was involved in designing the exhibits, which present his theories about possible extraterrestrial influences on ancient constructions. The themed pavilions invite visitors to consider connections between different cultures and their legacies.
