Medelserhütte, Mountain hut of Swiss Alpine Club at Fuorcla da Lavaz, Grisons, Switzerland
Medelserhütte sits at 2524 meters elevation between Val Plattas and Val Lavaz in the Graubünden Alps. The building accommodates about 55 guests with simple rooms and modern shower facilities.
The hut was built in 1910 as a mountain shelter for hikers and climbers. It received major upgrades in 2006 that added new rooms and modern facilities.
The hut's name blends German and Romansh, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the Graubünden mountains. Visitors experience this cultural mix through conversations with staff and other guests who come from different parts of Switzerland.
The walk up from Curaglia takes about 3 and a half hours on marked trails with steep sections. You will need sure footing and should be comfortable with mountain hiking.
The facility accepts digital payments through TWINT, Switzerland's cashless payment system. The meals are made from local organic grains and feature regional cakes and pastries.
