Kantonalbankgebäude Bern, Bank building in Red Quarter, Bern, Switzerland.
The Kantonalbankgebäude stands at Federal Square with a symmetrical stone facade adorned by life-sized statues representing historical figures at its attic level.
Built in 1867 as Museum Society House by architect Johann Caspar Wolff, the structure transformed into the headquarters of Bern Cantonal Bank through renovations from 1903 to 1906.
The building's ground floor initially served as a reading circle while its first-floor hall hosted concerts, lectures, festivities, and balls until 1903.
Located at coordinates 46.9472°N and 7.44356°E, the Kantonalbankgebäude maintains its function as a financial institution while offering architectural tours to visitors.
In October 1924, the original attic statues, designed by Robert Dorer and created by Ludwig Keiser and Heinrich Rudolf Meili, were replaced with exact copies.
