Loebegge, Meeting corner at Spitalgasse and Bubenbergplatz in Bern, Switzerland

Loebegge is a corner structure at the intersection of Spitalgasse and Bubenbergplatz in Bern, distinguished by covered arcades and multiple information plaques. The structure connects the retail entry with surrounding sidewalks and creates a recognizable landmark in the city center.

The corner takes its name from the Loeb department store and the Swiss German word "Egge" for corner. In autumn 2006 the publicly accessible corner was redesigned and made part of the store, though the meeting point in front of the building is still used. Until 2007 a Loeb-Egge telephone stood there: callers could report a delay, and whoever answered would ring the intended recipient and pass on the message.

The name combines "Loeb", the department store on the corner, with "Egge", Swiss German for corner. On the first arcade column toward Spitalgasse, three metal plaques hang beneath a "Loeb-Egge" sign: the top one gives the name, the second, hung for the autumn 1981 exhibition "Bern grüsst Bern", lists distances from Bern to places in the USA also called Bern, and the third records the deserving Bernese figures after whom the corner was temporarily renamed.

The location sits centrally near Heiliggeistkirche church and several public transport stops, making navigation straightforward. Visitors can find information on the plaques and easily identify directions to other parts of the city.
