Neue Börse, Stock exchange building in Selnau district, Zürich, Switzerland
The Neue Börse is a building in Zurich's Selnau district defined by a striking 64-ton steel spiral staircase connecting multiple floors. This modern structure at Selnaustrasse 30 features an open floor plan with clear architectural lines throughout.
This structure was built between 1987 and 1991 by architectural firm Suter + Suter to serve as the Swiss Stock Exchange headquarters. The financial firm relocated in the mid-2010s, leading to a transformation of the building's purpose.
The building houses two art collections from Canton Zurich, including works by Fischli/Weiss and a collection by Zobrist & Waeckerlin. These artworks shape the interior and give the space an artistic character beyond its commercial past.
You can visit the building on guided tours every Saturday at 11:00 and 14:00, with easy access by tram 8 or train S4 to Selnau station. Plan enough time to see the art collections and interior at a comfortable pace.
A rooftop garden was added in 2017 when EF Education First moved in and fundamentally changed how the building was used. At the same time, childcare facilities and green outdoor spaces were created, reshaping the working environment.
